DofE Paddleboard Expeditions

Supporting young people through safe, enjoyable DofE expeditions

School of Outdoors is proud to be an Approved Activity Provider (AAP) for the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE), offering an exciting alternative to traditional land-based expeditions: paddleboarding. Our paddleboarding expeditions are designed to meet all DofE requirements and are led by highly qualified, experienced instructors who ensure a safe, adventurous, and memorable experience for every participant.

Bronze

One day of paddleboarding training, a one-day practice expedition, and a two-day qualifying expedition.

Silver

One day of paddleboarding training, followed by a two-day practice and a three-day qualifying expedition, providing deeper exposure to paddleboarding skills and teamwork on the water.

What We Offer

Our paddleboarding expeditions cover both the Bronze and Silver levels —providing the necessary training, practice, and assessment sessions required for each stage. For each expedition, we provide:

Certified Paddleboarding Instructors: All instructors hold water safety and paddleboarding qualifications, first aid certification, and Enhanced DBS clearance.
Comprehensive Equipment: We supply tents, stoves, compasses, maps, group shelters, and more, ensuring all participants have what they need for a safe expedition.
Customised Program: Each school is assigned a dedicated Account Manager with experience in DofE paddleboarding expeditions, to tailor the program to meet the needs and goals of each group.
High-Quality Equipment: We supply all necessary paddleboarding equipment, including boards, paddles, buoyancy aids, and dry bags, ensuring that participants are equipped and prepared for a safe journey on the water.
Pre-expedition Information Sessions: Virtual parent information sessions are available to explain the paddleboarding expedition process, safety measures, and answer any questions.
Digital Consent and Paperwork Management: Online consent forms and trip letters simplify logistics for schools and streamline the preparation process.
Assessment and Feedback: After each expedition, assessors provide comprehensive feedback and reports, accessible through our online portal, to help students and schools track progress and growth.

Program Structure

Our paddleboarding expeditions encourage resilience, teamwork, and confidence on the water. Each level is structured with training days, practice expeditions, and qualifying expeditions, tailored to the requirements of the Bronze and Silver awards:

Additional Support for Schools

In addition to delivering high-quality expeditions, we manage risk assessments, insurance, and logistical arrangements, minimizing the administrative load for school staff. Through our online portal, schools can monitor expedition details, access feedback, and stay up to date on all necessary documentation.
